• The Delta Dam will be the largest dam constructed in Marlborough to date

• The dam is designed by Tonkin and Taylor Ltd - Auckland

• Earthworks Marlborough Ltd are principal contractors for the construction of the dam

• The dam will store 1 million plus cubic metres of water

• The completed dam is 250m across the top

• The dam stands 23 metres high

• The total amount of material to be moved to construct the dam is 246,000m3

• The total amount of material in the cut off trench and dam embankment is 188,000m3

• The dam took in excess of seven months to construct

Delta Dam was built for the Lower Waihopai Irrigation Company Ltd to complement it's existing irrigation scheme
